SINGAPORE: One in two HIV cases diagnosed in Singapore last year were in the late-stages of infection.
To encourage more at-risk individuals to go for early and regular HIV screening, the Health Promotion Board kicked off a month-long campaign at Clarke Quay with a booth called Club MOSS, or the Ministry of Safer Sex.
24 roving hosts will engage the public in a challenge called "The Risk Factor". Through games, participants find out how taking risks with unsafe sexual practices come with a high price.
The Health Promotion Board hopes to raise the awareness of HIV testing and early diagnosis and treatment which will help to reduce the likelihood of HIV transmission by the infected person.
Eunice Yong, senior executive, Communicable Disease Education, Health Promotion Board, said: "HPB focuses HIV testing for at-risk individuals, largely because last year from MOH statistics, in a year, most were at the late stage infection.
"So we hope to promote testing, to let them know that testing is available in Singapore." - CNA/vm
