SINGAPORE : Improving the financial awareness of women in Singapore - that is what the Association of Women for Action and Research (AWARE) hopes to do with financial planners IPAC.
They will conduct seminars for those who wish to improve their current financial situation and plan for the future.
A survey conducted by the two organisations showed that three-quarters of women feel they do not know enough about financial products and services to make good investment decisions.
The survey, which involved 400 women, also showed that only 10 per cent said they are looking at planning for retirement.
AWARE and IPAC will pilot financial clinics for women from lower income households beginning next month.
Corrina Lim, Assistant Honorary Secretary of AWARE said: "A lot of women tend to think of the man as the provider of the family's finances and to be the one to manage. If you have split up your roles that way, you are completely dependant on your husband to be the financial planner.
"If you haven't made adequate provisions for the time when he's no longer there, then it's something which you should think about now." - CNA /ls
