SINGAPORE : Singapore humanitarian organisation Mercy Relief continues to pour in aid to quake victims in Padang, Indonesia.

It has collaborated with French hypermart Carrefour to distribute basic necessities to areas affected by the quake. Carrefour has doubled its donation to some S$400,000.

This is also the third round of aid that is being distributed by Mercy Relief.

Asian Idol, Hady Mirza, who is Mercy Relief's goodwill ambassador to Indonesia, was also there to lend a hand.

He described his trip to the quake-devastated region as a "humbling experience".

He said: "For me, I am very affected by it. (It is) my very first time... looking at a natural disaster in my own eyes... looking at the people, how they get through the day and how they react to us helping them.

"They are a very resilient people, they are very strong and I am very inspired by them." - CNA/ms
