SINGAPORE: Business executives swapped their suits for running gear and pounded the pavement in Singapore's downtown area, all in the name of charity.
Getting this year's Bull Charge race underway was Community Development, Youth and Sports Minister, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.
For the first time in the event's five-year history, the race was flagged off at the Marina Bay floating platform.
Organiser Singapore Exchange said over 3,000 participants registered for the 3.2-kilometre charity fun run in the central business district.
Despite the recession, SGX said this year's event raised over S$2 million for 12 selected beneficiaries, surpassing the initial target of S$1.2 million.
The event has raised over S$12 million for needy children, families and youths since its inception. - CNA/vm
