SINGAPORE: The victorious Team Singapore athletes were given an official welcome back at Changi Airport on Saturday.

Chef de Mission Jessie Phua led the triumphant return from Laos with 52 athletes from three sports – silat, cue sports and badminton. They were greeted by some 200 supporters.

Singapore competed in 18 sports at the 25th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, winning medals in all except petanque, making it one of the country's best away performances, despite sending a smaller contingent.

A total of 192 Team Singapore athletes competed at the SEA Games and about half them were competing for the first time.
