SINGAPORE: Two Malaysians were sentenced to death on Thursday for drug trafficking.

On 16 June 2008, Cheong Chun Yin, 26, arrived at Changi Airport on a Silkair flight from Myanmar.

He met Pang Siew Fum, 54, at Terminal 2 and handed her a black trolley luggage bag in the carpark. Cheong then left in a taxi while Pang drove to Toa Payoh.

They were subsequently arrested by Central Narcotics Bureau officers who had been instructed to tail the pair. About 2.7 kilogrammes of diamorphine were found in the black bag.

At Pang's house, officers found another two luggage bags containing about 5 kilogrammes of diamorphine.

Pang claimed she thought the bag from Cheong had contained precious stones and Buddha pendants. Cheong claimed he thought the bags held gold bars.
