SINGAPORE: The Finance Ministry is inviting views from the public on the proposed changes to the Income Tax Act (ITA).

During the one month consultation exercise, the public can post their comments online via the ministry's website (www.mof.gov.sg) or send them by email, fax or post.

The exercise ends on 14 July.

The proposed amendments are to cater for the Budget 2007 tax changes and other non-Budget changes.

These include reducing the corporate income tax rate to 18 per cent, and tax exemption for registered charities.

Amendments are also being proposed to the eligibility criteria for the Parenthood Tax Rebate and Working Mother's Child Relief, and the enhancement of tax transparency treatment for Real Estate Investment trusts.

The Ministry says the draft Bill is targeted to be tabled in Parliament in September. - CNA/yy
