SINGAPORE: One of the biggest parties in Singapore is well underway and about 30,000 spectators have turned up to celebrate the country's 42nd birthday.
Many turned up early to make sure they got the best view.
Spectators started queuing at least three hours before the parade started.
One of the first was sales executive Francis Wong and his family.
"We had lunch, did some shopping, and the main thing is to come here early, get a good seat and avoid the traffic jam," he said.
Spectators were put through security checks first before they could hit the stands.
Traffic was also diverted at several junctions and at least three roads were closed just for the National Day Parade.
Parade-goers had a roaring good time, courtesy of professional freestyle bike riders and a concert showcase by local artists.
The coveted NDP Funpack also provided all the parade essentials, from snacks to water and mini fan, for the audience to enjoy.
