SINGAPORE: Human rights activists in Singapore called for changes to the ASEAN Charter at a public forum held on Sunday.

SG Human Rights said Chapter 14, which is the human rights part of the ASEAN Charter, should be made into a separate treaty.

This would mean Myanmar could sign the ASEAN Charter despite the recent crackdown, and all other members would be able to sign the human rights treaty.

Participants at the forum signed a petition calling for democracy in Myanmar.

Ten balloons were also released, one for each of the ASEAN member states, urging them to free Myanmar.
