SINGAPORE: With only two days of competition left before the SEA Games ends in Thailand, many athletes from Team Singapore are already heading home.

The latest to fly into Changi Airport are the bodybuilders, the women's rugby team and fencers.

For many of the athletes, it has been a learning experience, whether they won a medal or not.

The fencing team managed to retain their women's foil team gold, while the women's rugby team had to settle for the silver, after succumbing to Thailand in the finals.

Coach Gene Tong of the women’s rugby team said, "It definitely could have been better. I think that there (were) some handling errors in the last game, and that cost us the difference between silver and gold."

And for women’s foil team gold medallist, Ruth Ng, "For one, I think we all prepared very hard for the competition. But more importantly, when we were there, we fought very hard and we stayed united, and we were happy we had this opportunity." - CNA/ac
