JAKARTA: A 5.7-magnitude quake hit the Indonesian island of Sumbawa Thursday, seismologists said, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The quake struck at 6:41 am local time (2241 GMT Wednesday) 138 kilometres west-northwest of the town of Raba and 260 kilometres east-northeast of Denpasar, capital of Bali, the US Geological Survey said.
It occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres.
The Indonesian archipelago sits on the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, where continental plates meet causing seismic and volcanic activity.
