SINGAPORE: Some 242 students made their way into the Singapore Book of Records with the most number of frisbees thrown in the signature Kallang Wave style.

Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, started off with the first frisbee. This was followed by students from the three local universities.

Saturday's event at Tanjong Beach on Sentosa was part of the inaugural Tri-University Beach Carnival iBiza 2008.

It is the first collaboration between the business schools of Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore and the Singapore Management University.

Organisers hope to raise sports awareness leading up to the 2010 Youth Olympic Games, which will be held in the city-state.

Besides sporting events, social activities were also held to provide opportunities for students to interact.
