KIEV : Disgraced Ukrainian heptathlete Lyudmila Blonska and her coach have been banned for life by the Ukraine national athletics federation for failing a doping test for the second time in her career.

The 31-year-old Blonska tested positive for the anabolic steroid methyl-testosterone after she won the silver medal in the Olympic heptathlon competition in Beijing.

She had already served a two year ban after testing positive for the steroid stanozolol in 2003.

The 2007 world heptathlon silver medallist and 2008 world indoor pentathlon champion was stripped of her silver medal and expelled from the Games. She had intended to take part in the long jump.

Blonska claimed that she was forced to take the banned drug by her husband and coach Sergui Blonsky who beat her to get her to comply.
