SINGAPORE: 46 youths from the Chinese International School, St Andrew's Autism School and the Singapore Boys' Home came together on Saturday to paint a wall mural at the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee's office building as part of the Singapore Youth Olympic Games outreach programme.

"Let's Paint!" is part of an ongoing effort to involve youths from all walks of life as Singapore prepares to host the inaugural Youth Olympics next year.

The mural - designed by 22-year-old student Rosalinda Yapit - depicts the four themes of the Singapore 2010 "Create Action Now!" festivals, which centre around Culture and Heritage, Digital Media, Environment and the Arts.

Organisers said they chose painting as it is a fun and an inclusive activity, and encourages young people to embrace, embody and express the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect. - CNA/vm
