SINGAPORE: Singaporeans across the island will be saying the national pledge at 8.22pm on Sunday.

But 203 Admiralty residents decided to do more than just that - they put words into action by donning t-shirts to form the words of the national pledge.

Each t-shirt had a letter on its back and the residents had to manoeuvre themselves to display the pledge word by word.

And they've made it into the Singapore Book of Records as the longest text formed by a human chain.

The oldest participant was 72 years old, while the youngest was just four.

17-year-old Wong Cheng Ji was one of those who attempted the feat.

He said: “I felt very proud and honoured because not everyone had this chance to be part of a big event... It was quite fun and meaningful at the same time."

The event was held at Greenwood Primary School in Woodlands as part of the Admiralty National Day Observance Ceremony on Sunday.
