SINGAPORE: In golf, day two of the Lexus Cup saw Team International and Team Asia neck-and-neck again on Saturday.
It was a great start for Team International with captain Annika Sorenstam hitting the shot of the day on the 18-hole.
"I hit a 5-wood to the right of the green between the bunkers and just took my 54 degree and chipped in from 45 feet," said the captain of Team International at the Lexus Cup 2008, Annika Sorenstam.
Eight birdies from partner Suzann Pettersen gave their team the first match against their Korean opponents.
The pair of Cristie Kerr and Helen Alfredsson combined well to give Team International the win in match two.
But Team Asia came back strong, winning matches 3, 4 and 5.
The more experienced Team International players ensured victory in the last match to finish the battle on an even 3-3 score to end on a 6-all total.
However, captain of Team Asia, Pak Se Ri, is still confident that her team comprising six rookies can pull off a third successive win.
She said: "It's pretty new for them… they are handling the pressure but at the same time they (are) having fun, so I like to see that. And tomorrow, they are also going to see a lot of pressure but I think they are going to do really well."
A thrilling final is expected on Sunday, but should the teams still be tied after three days of competition, a play-off would decide the winning team.
