SINGAPORE : A first-minute wonder goal from Safuwan Baharudin set the tone for a convincing Young Lions win, as the hosts defeated visiting Balestier Khalsa 3-0 on a gusty Wednesday night at Jalan Besar Stadium.

There seemed little danger when Safuwan picked up a loose ball in the middle of the Balestier half, though some may have been surprised to see the defender in such an advanced position.

Much more surprising was his subsequent attempt at goal, which sailed over a bemused Ahmadulhaq Che Omar for a stunning goal inside the opening sixty seconds.

Clearly that was the start that the home fans had wished for, with the goal snapping a three-match goalless run for the Young Lions. - sleague.com
