YOG: Singapore's Brandon Ooi ends hopes of medal in Canoe-Kayaking event

SINGAPORE : In Canoe-Kayaking, Singapore's Brandon Ooi hopes of a medal ended after he failed to overcome the last 8 hurdle at the Boys' K1 Canoe Slalom at the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) on Wednesday.

The 15-year-old from Anglo Chinese School (Independent) clocked 1 minute 36.96 seconds.

But he was beaten by over 8 seconds by France's Guillaume Bernis, who advances to the last 4.

And in the Gold medal match, Slovenia's Simon Brus was the fastest to claim Gold in 1 minute, 25.15 seconds.

Slovakia got the Silver while the Bronze went to Czech Republic.

In he Girls' K1 Obstacle Slalom, Australia's Jessica Fox won the Gold in a time of 1 minute, 33.64 seconds.

The Czech Republic clinched the Silver, while Austria took the Bronze.

Over in the Boys' C1 Canoe Slalom, China's Wang Xiaodong emerged with the Gold in a time of 1 minute 32.66 seconds.

Germany won the Silver, whole Ukraine got the Bronze. - CNA /ls
