SINGAPORE : Singapore is through to the second round of the FIFA World Cup 2010 Asian Zone qualifying tournament after the Palestinian team failed to show up for the match.

The Lions were the only side present at the scheduled kick-off time of 5pm at the National Stadium.

Going through the formalities, China's referee Sun Bao Jie blew the final whistle barely five seconds after the hosts had kicked off and awarded Singapore the win.

Those who have purchased tickets can obtain a full refund at the FAS office at Jalan Besar Stadium (Admin & Finance Dept) during office hours (9am-6pm) from Tuesday. - CNA/de
