SINGAPORE: Singapore is aiming to be among the world’s top five when it comes to bowling.

And the country is on track, with its bowlers winning six medals, including two gold, at the recent Commonwealth Championship in Ireland.

The four bowlers and their coach returned home on Monday to warm weather and warm smiles for giving Singapore its best performance in the 16-nation tournament.

Singapore's top male bowler, Remy Ong, had two gold and a silver.

And the bowlers admitted they could have added to the tally, if they had adjusted to the lanes faster.

Still, the good outing in Ireland shows that Singapore bowling is on the right track.

"This result is just part and parcel of what is going to happen more for ten-pin bowling in Singapore. One thing is for sure, we are going to aim towards (to be among) the top five nations in the world," said the coach of Team Singapore, Mervyn Foo.
