SINGAPORE : Woodlands Wellington claimed all three points with a 2-1 win at Jurong West Stadium on Sunday evening despite finishing with ten men, as they dealt Gombak United's title aspirations a significant blow.

The hosts had gone ahead on 62 minutes through national striker Agu Casmir, only for Zakaria Yousif to equalize for the Rams in the 77th minute.

Gombak were given fresh hope when their opponents lost midfielder Luis Eduardo Hicks to a second yellow card on 83 minutes, the Chilean having received his first 11 minutes earlier.

But Jamil Ali became the hero for Woodlands two minutes from time when he slotted home a Daniel Hammond cross at close range.

In a separate match, Home United maintained their unbeaten record at Clementi Stadium with a 3-2 victory over the Young Lions.

The win was enough for them to overtake the Super Reds into fifth place on goal difference.

The visitors had claimed a shock lead seven minutes into the game when Fairoz Hasan struck, but Home rallied to level through Kengne Ludovick before Shi Jiayi converted a penalty on the stroke of half-time.

Ludovick then scored again nine minutes into the second half to give PN Sivaji's side a crucial two-goal cushion, before substitute Faritz Abdul Hameed pulled a goal back to claim some pride for the Young Lions. - sleague
