SINGAPORE : China is learning from Singapore and other countries on how to develop its vocational education and training.

A 90-member Chinese delegation is in Singapore to attend an eight-day workshop organised by Singapore's Foreign Affairs Ministry and the World Bank.

The workshop is aimed at improving technical and vocational education and training in China's Guangdong, Shandong and Liaoning provinces, particularly in the areas of management and curriculum planning.

The delegates want to tap on Singapore's experience in schools and colleges and how institutions have engaged private companies as partners.

The workshop organisers hope such training programmes will help China develop its economy - from being a supplier of goods to developing and creating demand in products and services. - CNA/ms
