SINGAPORE : It's easy to see why HP has branded its latest line of laptops "Envy".

Anyone would go green in envy upon seeing one of these sleek, slim and absolutely beautiful notebooks.

Despite being only 0.8-inch thick and weighing 1.69kg, the aluminium-cum-magnesium clad HP Envy 13 (US$1,699) packs the speed of Intel's Core 2 Duo processors and a glossy 13.1-inch display. On the palm rest lies an exquisite design sporting HP's Metal Etching technology.

The 15.6-inch Envy 15 (US$1,899) is equally good-looking, with a similar metal etching adorning the lid and palmrest of its magnesium alloy chassis.

The Envy 15 houses the upcoming Intel Core i7 processor - making it HP's fastest consumer laptop yet.

You can slot up to 16GB of memory on this machine and add two solid-state drives running in unison for increased data transfer speeds.

You don't need to spoil their looks when you need to tack on a bigger battery. The optional Slim Fit battery that's shaped like a flat plate slides below the Envy laptops to prolong battery life. It's worth noting that both laptops lack integrated optical drives, so don't forget to order the optional external drive if you want a full-featured setup.

HP's netbook lineup also gets an update with the new 10.1-inch HP Mini (US$549) designed by world-renowned Dutch industrial designer Tord Boontje. Users yearning for a bigger screen might want to check out the HP Mini 311 instead (US$499), which will boast an 11.6-inch display.

The HP Mini 311 will be available this month while the rest will reach our shores on October 22.
