SINGAPORE : Relatively new smartphone player Acer has announced two phone series - the neoTouch and the beTouch - in line with this week's release of the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system (OS) for smartphones.
The neoTouch has a 3.8-inch touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel auto-focus camera and a 1GHz processor. The 3.5G phone has the usual list of connectivity features, including WiFi. An application called Acer Sync allows the neoTouch to sync contacts, calendars, photos and video clips seamlessly with Windows-based notebooks, netbooks and Google accounts.
Acer Sync has been incorporated into the Acer's beTouch line of Windows phones as well, which features a customisable user interface that aims to make personalising WinMo 6.5 a simple affair.
Only one beTouch model has been confirmed to make its way here so far. The 3.5G beTouch E100 comes with a 528Mhz processor, a 3.2-inch touchscreen display and a 2-megapixel camera. No WiFi though.
Acer's smartphones will be out by the end of the month.
