SINGAPORE: Wii and PlayStation 3 owners, take cover. Microsoft's major gaming event - X08 - is here.
Held at the Marina Square Atrium from October 24-26, X08 will give you the chance to try out more than 30 Xbox 360 titles before they’re even out. These include "Gears of War 2", "Fallout 3", "Fable 2", "Mirror’s Edge", "Tom Clancy’s EndWar" and "Tomb Raider: Underworld". Gaming distributors and publishers like Atari Singapore, New Era Entertainment, LucasArts, Sega, Ubisoft and Take-Two Interactive will also be showcasing their wares.
If you're not content playing the latest instalment of "Tomb Raider", you can even meet Lara Croft in the flesh. Her latest real incarnation, Alison Carroll (picture), is an experienced competitive gymnast and you can be certain she'll be showing off her moves at X08.
She's not the only babe who'll be making the rounds at the event. You can get your picture taken with Miss Maxim 2007 at the IAHGames booth when you bring your Xbox 360 copy of Midnight Club LA.
In addition, you can meet local blogger and Xbox Live Xpert Sheylara. Microsoft will also be announcing the next Xpert (www.xperts.com.sg) that will accompany Sheylara to front its online gaming community.
Xbox Live members who have pre-registered for the exclusive Xbox Live Fan Nite tonight will get a special treat. They can catch rock band Electrico perform and if their gaming chops are up to snuff, they can even challenge the band on Guitar Hero World Tour.
Don't forget to bring home some goodies. Microsoft and its partners will be have promotional offers at X08, so you can bet on great buys for games and accessories that are hard to beat. For example, if you are among the first 50 to come in tomorrow at 1pm, you can buy four pre-selected games to get a free Xbox 360 Arcade set.
X08 starts Friday from 10am to 10pm daily until Sunday at the Marina Square Atrium. Admission is free.
