For whoever feel that he close the door for learning Chinese or anything connected with Chinese, think about this. I think it's you guys, who are STUPID. Even now, after all the so called reforms, you are still too STUPID to learn Chinese because it's hard to learn. I am 33 years old. I live in Indonesia my whole life, I still speak Chinese (4 dialects), I read and write Chinese. So, you STUPID people, don't blame the wind if you can't sail. Blame your Stupidity.

SUHARTO did what he need to do. He had to cut all the connection to PKI at that time. And PKI are connected with China at that time. Get this? Not like nowadays leader who talks about one thing, but do the opposite.

And I didn't see the harm of not letting Chinese sit in the government. As long as there are money in your pocket, security in the nation, it's fine for me.

suharto is always a great leader...
so many bad things happened after he was forced to stepped down n none of those is good.
see what happen today?? jakarta flooded... this never happen during his 32 year of ruling.. jakarta int'l airport was closed for almost whole day... this never happen before..
so, indons out there, there are many things that we can do now to make the country survive instead of blaming the dead. lets all concentrate to the future n stop dweeling the past..

Bapak Suharto. You will be placed in the history as the founding father of Modern Indonesia. It is not an easy task to manage Indonesia from Third World country into a modern country. Managing over 200 million people of different cultures and on the largest archipelago in the world, fighting for Indonesia's independence, bringing harmony to not only Indonesia but ASEAN. It is a greater achievement than any other president in this world. And I am proud of you. Farewell...

Today, there are so many people condemn Soeharto of his wrong-doings during his 32 years of leadership. And for those people, who cry out their anger to Soeharto, let me ask you this: Are you really Reformists? Did you really get hurt by Soeharto’s leadership?

Hypocrite human can only point their finger to other and cry out their anger without creating real better things and proving that they can contribute better than the person that they condemn. Those lowest levels kind of human are trying to create their own popularities by condemning Soeharto. They don’t have any grateful and appreciation senses to their leader. Those kinds of humans do not deserve to have a good quality leader. They are just a gang of cowards who are not responsible of what they are doing and trying to safe their own ass and take advantages from the current situations by claiming that they are Reformists. Indonesia today is in the hands of those people. Those who do not have any dedication and any loyalties. They are opportunists who do not want to take risk.

Have those people put themselves in front of the mirror and asked themselves what they have done to the nation?

For those who disagree to obey the government decision to mourn for Soeharto for 7 days and the plan to award Soeharto as a hero... Remember this... SOEHARTO DID NOT ASK FOR THESE!! But we, as a great nation, have the obligation to do this to appreciate the developments that Soeharto created. He had contributed what he could do to improve the situation and the condition of Indonesia. He changed the Indonesian people from NO-people to be SOME-people, and he changed this nation from NO-nation to be a GREAT-nation. Remember, a great leader sometimes has to take big and risky steps. Sometimes the steps hit and hurt some people, but those have to be done to save the people and the nation.

For those who hate Soeharto, please don’t drive your cars on the toll-roads that Soeharto built... don’t go to the Indonesian Miniature Park and the Mekarsari Fruit Garden that Soeharto built... don’t work at the office-buildings that Soeharto built... don’t even dare to get near all the things that Soeharto built, especially this nation... You will put dirt on your so-called clean blood. Yeah, if it is really clean!!

Again... May you rest in peace, Pak Soeharto - the Smiling General, the Father of Indonesian Development, the Forever-Lifetime Indonesian President and the Father of the Indonesian people. I am proud to have a President like you. With or without the award from the Indonesian government, you are already our hero in our heart. With or without the Indonesian government decision to mourn for you for 7 days, we are already mourning. Not just 7 days, but forever in our heart. You are really irreplaceable.

Those who posted that we should forgive Soeharto might as well go and liberate all criminals currently held in prison in the name of "goodness and mercy". Please do not try to be "gracious god" here, you are not. If you want to be fair and square, you should first forgive anybody around you, if you can't even forgive your wife, husband, colleague, etc.. you just become another shameful hypocrite. Just because one person here said to forgive Soeharto doesn't mean you should follow. I am talking especially to people who posted his/her real name and insisted that we should forgive Soeharto. Oh yeah, you're so merciful.. Great, so what? Is that a real you? I take my stand, Soeharto might be forgiven, but that should not wipe out his mistakes, especially because he never admit one either. In Indonesia, a man caught stealing chicken can end up in jail for at least 6 month (with 20-30% chance of being burned alive or battered severely by the mass). This great Soeharto had pocketed billions of chickens yet has received the best hospitality and best medical treatment in Indonesia! What an irony.

Mr Suharto (Pak Harto) is very much respected and admired by many in Indonesia
and others around the world. I grew up in Jakarta and now a Singapore citizen) who shared the many ups and downs of Indonesians who have experienced many good things and the bad thingswhich unfortunately left untold memoirs in history. Nevertheless Indonesia will see a new chapter of progress while it is inevitable to eradicate the sins of the corrupt individuals all at one time. No doubt Pak Harto left a good legacy of his economic contributions to Indonesia but the future is hopeful for all who believe that things will change for the better rather than weep over spill milk. My Singaporean husband and I convey our heartfelt sympathy to the people of the Republic of Indonesia in this time of mourning.

Dear Indonesians

As we ASSUMED Pak Harto ("Babe') MAY HAVE siphoned off state funds. Have you ever done your calculations????

"Babe' have ruled Indonesia for the past 32 years. Assuming during that period of time he managed to attract investors at US$100mill annually, what was the total figure that he had brought into Indonesia? Will you still be in paddy fields? Will you hunger (despite the fact that he cannot feed each and everyone of you?)

God created humans with brain. Therefore make full use of it to think and THINK THE CORRECT WAY - FORGIVE & FORGET, cause we're no angles, just another human being. So as the late Babe.

TO: Bambang Totoet Tummi/Sari Indah. Remember this!!!!
You condemned him but yet you can call yourselves INDONESIANS!!!! How would you feel if your children are disloyal/unfilial to you - cause this is what you did to someone who fed you from your cradle.

Apologies if I had offended anyone but the reality is I despise these action of disloyalty

The evil that men do lives after them, the good is oft interred in their bones, so let it be with Caesar- William Shakespeare

So let it be with Suharto.

It is easy to forget all the good that Suharto has done not just for Indonesia but also for Singapore. Suharto ended the Konfrontasi and so heralded a golden age of peace and stability in the region, a peace that lasts till today.

There were many dividends that were reaped through this peace. Economic progress not just for Singapore but also for Malaysia and Indonesia.

Our peoples benefited from Suharto's vision of peace and for that, we must give him credit.

We must also remember him for his anti-communist stance in joining Singapore and Malaysia to be a bulwark against aggressive communist expansion in the late 60s and 70s. Suharto helped maintain the delicate detente between the communist Vietnam and its allies and the anti-communist ASEAN.

If not for Suharto, the alternative would have been a very different and bleak life for us all.

Let us try to remember the good in him.
