INDONESIA: ON THE RING OF FIRE (2006)
This documentary takes both a scientific and human approach to the island that stands amidst three major tectonic plates. Why is Indonesia plagued with natural calamities? And what gives its people strength to rebuild, over and over again?

From those affected one and a half years ago by the Indian Ocean Tsunami, to the many picking up the pieces from the Nias earthquake, and finally to those in Bantul still reeling from the shock of the aftermath, what keeps them still standing on the ring of fire?

THE ORPHANS, CHILDLESS & PREDATORS (2005)
In one single day, tens of thousands of children became orphans when the tsunami unfolded its destructive power on 26 December 2004. This documentary, narrated by Academy Award winning actress, Susan Sarandon, joins orphans and parents on a journey to search for their missing loved ones.

In the wake of such deep suffering, predators of another kind emerged - human predators that exploit these vulnerable orphans and turn them into victims of child trafficking, forced labour and even sexual slavery.

Number of episodes: 1 x 48min

ISLAND OF A THOUSAND MOSQUES (2005)
As the tsunami swept across the Indian Ocean last December, the world came to know of many stories of miraculous survivals from the regions ravaged by the waves.

But days later, equally extraordinary stories of mosques unscathed from the devastating waters, in particular, in Aceh, Indonesia, began to surface.

Was there really an invisible hand at play that protected these mosques from destruction? Or was it simply a case of the mosques being built more sturdily than the other structures in the towns and cities of Aceh?

WAVES OF CHANGE: SURVIVING THE TSUNAMI:  PART 1
WAVES OF CHANGE: TURNING THE POLITICAL TIDE:  PART 2
(2005)

The Asian Tsunami killed over 150,000 people and left more than a million homeless. We revisit the affected areas in Meulaboh, Banda Aceh, Phuket, Khao Lak, Chennai and Sri Lanka’s eastern coast for a look at how the disaster has transformed hundreds of thousands of lives and assess how relief and reconstruction efforts are progressing.

We will also track down survivors profiled in the immediate aftermath of the tsunami to find out how they are coping, one year on.

Five broad areas will be covered in the two episodes:  shelter and resettlement, livelihood recovery, families - especially women and children, political impact - with special focus on Indonesia and Sri Lanka, and disaster preparedness and mitigation.

Number of episodes: 2 x 23min
