Who will replace George W Bush in the White House? The search for the answer began with primaries and caucuses that kicked off just as 2008 settled in.
The Iowa caucus in the Midwest led the election process, followed by the New Hampshire, Nevada, Michigan, South Carolina and Florida Primaries -- all of which were held in January.
Strong candidates from both sides of the political spectrum have emerged, with former First Lady Hillary Clinton going head to head with Illinois Senator Barack Obama in the Democratic Party.
On the Republicans’ side, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Arizona Senator John McCain, Texas Representative Ron Paul and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney are battling for top spot, with Senator McCain currently in the lead.
