Saksith Saiyasombut

Saksith Saiyasombut is CNA's Thailand Correspondent based in Bangkok.

With over a decade of experience in journalism, Saksith’s reporting provides insightful and in-depth coverage of Thailand's complex and often tumultuous political scene, as well as the latest economic and social developments in this Southeast Asian country.

He has covered major events in Thailand such as the passing of King Bhumibol Adulyadej in 2016, the 2018 Tham Luang Cave Rescue, the Thai General Elections in 2019 and 2023, and the 2020-21 Thai anti-government protests.

Prior to joining CNA, he started his international journalistic career as a Thai political blogger in 2010, and quickly built up a reputation and a following for his analysis and commentary on the "Siam Voices" blog at Asian Correspondent. He also regularly appeared as an analyst and commentator on Thai politics on various media outlets from around the world, including Al Jazeera English, BBC and DW News.

Saksith grew up in Bremen, Germany, where he briefly worked as a local newspaper reporter for Weser Report, before pursuing a degree in Southeast Asian Studies at the University of Hamburg.
