Fireworks, fly-pasts, family fun: 5 options for a National Day 2022 staycation

This year’s National Day Parade will be the final one to be held at The Float@ Marina Bay, so splash out on a staycay at a hotel with a close-up view of the festivities.

The 2022 National Day Parade might be your very last chance to catch the fireworks, fly-pasts and more, set against the stunning Marina Bay cityscape – next year, it’ll be held at the Padang, with subsequent ones potentially slated to take place at the National Stadium.

So why not mark Singapore’s 57th year of independence by seeing everything up close, while cosying up in the lap of luxury? We rounded up five great options (as usual, crowd favourites like The Fullerton Hotel and The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore are all booked up already).

And just in case rooms aren’t available for Aug 9, you can also gun for Jul 23 or 30, as full-dress rehearsals (including fireworks) take place on those dates.

PAN PACIFIC SINGAPORE

Pan Pacific Singapore boasts some of the most stunning views overlooking Marina Bay, and its Fireworks By The Bay package allows you to celebrate in style, with unobstructed views of the pyrotechnics. Opt for the Pacific Club Harbour Select Studio, a generously-sized 65 sq m room, a luxurious bathtub, and exclusive access to the Pacific Club Lounge. Situated on the 38th floor, with breathtaking 360-degree views of Marina Bay, the South China Sea and the city, the Pacific Club Lounge serves up complimentary champagne breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails.

If you’re staycaying as a family, do note that extra charges apply for children aged six to 12, and that kids aged 12 and below can only access the space before 5.30pm. The package also includes daily breakfast at Edge for two persons, and access to the swimming pool and fitness centre.

PARKROYAL COLLECTION MARINA BAY

Located diagonally across from The Float@Marina Bay, this 583-room property is as close as you can get to the action without actually being seated in the spectator stands. The Skyline National Day Celebration package includes a signature Marina Bay room with a private balcony, and unobstructed views of the fireworks against the cityscape.

You’ll also receive specially curated National Day amenities, and access to the Wellness Floor on the fifth level, which encompasses a 24-hour gym, an outdoor swimming pool that glows mesmerisingly at night with 1,380 glowing fibre-optic lights, and The Skyline, a chic, resort-style space with a poolside bar and a garden overlooking Marina Bay.

THE CAPITOL KEMPINSKI HOTEL SINGAPORE

Standing not so tall at four storeys, the 155-room Capitol Kempinski may not boast direct or dramatic views of Marina Bay, but its location within a luxuriously appointed historic building entices, as does its NDP 2022 Fireworks Escape package.

Available for Grand Deluxe Rooms, Suites and Connecting Rooms, the package includes a buffet breakfast for two at 15 Stamford, daily Executive Lounge access for adult guests from 6pm to 8pm, exclusive rooftop access at Eden Residences to watch the Marina Bay fireworks display with a glass of sparkling wine per person (available on Jul 23 and 30, and Aug 9) and, for stays on Aug 9, live DJ music from 7pm to 9pm at the rooftop of Eden Residences. After viewing the fireworks display, head down to The Bar at 15 Stamford for a complimentary drink.

FAIRMONT SINGAPORE

While not technically an NDP-related staycay, we think the Fairmont Pawcation is a great way for pawrents who can’t leave their precious furbabies unattended at home, to engage in some patriotic revelry.

The package includes overnight accommodation in a Fairmont Room or Signature Suite, breakfast for two adults at Prego or in-room dining, and S$50 nett dining credits. You and your bae can take turns keeping your pampered pooch company while the other ducks out for a massage at the Willow Stream Spa, a dip in the massive round outdoor pools, or even a quick spot of shopping at Raffles City.

Also not technically an NDP staycay package, JW Marriott South Beach’s Fun For The Whole Family package keeps everyone entertained and engaged before the NDP begins.

Family by JW amenities include an activity guide and exploration map to encourage kids to discover and explore the hotel – the two stunning sky gardens and swimming pools are not to be missed – and take part in activities such as cooking classes, art-based activities and even fitness classes. Stickers, crayons and postcards to colour in are provided in-room, and you can even request a cute camper van-shaped sleeping tent (tiny bed included inside) for your kid to sleep in.

The morning after, enjoy a buffet breakfast at the popular Beach Road Kitchen for two adults and one child (up to 12 years old). Remember to use promo code “F10” when making your booking.
