In ‘Culture Club’, Melanie Oliveiro speaks with Shehan Karunatilaka, the 2022 Booker Prize winner and Sri Lankan author who wrote the global bestseller “The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida”. Karunatilaka – who used to work in Singapore’s advertising scene – will recall his memories of The Lion City, visiting the Haw Par Villa theme park and the cross-genre novel that earned him the prestigious literary prize. “The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida” is about a war photographer who, as a lingering ghost, investigates how he died and who murdered him - but he has seven days to unravel the truth.
