Tan Qiuyi is Channel NewsAsia’s Correspondent in Vietnam covering the political, social and economic aspects of life in that dynamic Southeast Asian nation.
Prior to her appointment, Qiuyi had been on numerous assignments as part of the press corp accompanying Singapore’s ministers on overseas visits. She also reported on Singapore housing, labour, politics and education for the channel. Some of her liveliest reports were about the environment, animal welfare and growing civil society voices. She has followed the trail of wild boars in Singapore’s nature reserves, and told the story of the coral reefs in the southern islands which manage to survive right next to some of the world's busiest shipping lanes.
Before becoming a reporter, Qiuyi managed cross-cultural projects that brought academics, journalists, political and religious leaders together at the Asia-Europe Foundation.
She read English at the National University of Singapore. Qiuyi and her husband now reside in Hanoi.
