Elakeyaa Selvaraji


Elakeyaa anchors the CNA’s News Now bulletins - delivering ‘live’ breaking news across Asia and the world.

She joined CNA in October 2019, after nearly 7 years as a Senior Journalist – Presenter at Mediacorp’s Tamil News & Current Affairs division.

During her stint there, Elakeyaa hosted and produced her weekly current affairs programme ‘Ethiroli’ for which she won the Best HOST - Info-Ed award at the prestigious Pradhana Vizha 2018 awards.

Notably she reported 'live' in breaking news events like the passing of Singapore's founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, the 2015 Singapore General Election.

She also hosted Budget 2017/2018 programmes, community engagement programmes such as the Tamil version of Spelling Bee Competition, Community awards show ‘ Tamil Chudar’.

Apart from work, Elakeyaa also works with many organisations like National Library Board, LISHA Women’s Wing, Narpani Paeravai, Ministry of Education and moderates many panel discussions.

Elakeyaa has interviewed key political figures such as Minister Iswaran, Minster K Shanmugam and has also travelled with former president Tony Tan to New Delhi for coverage.

Having a knack for investigative stories – Elakeyaa’s moonlighting maids’ story was picked up by all 4 languages as she busted 3 agencies who were caught on hidden cameras for breaking the law.

Elakeyaa was awarded the ‘Young Journalist of the year 2018’ – Special Commendation award at the annual Mediacorp News Awards 2018 for her contribution to the newsroom.

Outside work, Elakeyaa loves to meet up with her friends and family and spend time with them.

She is also passionate about Tamil language and community and sits in the main committee of the Centre for Singapore Tamil Culture.

Interestingly, Elakeyaa graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
