Gasthoori presents ‘News Now' on Channel NewsAsia. The programme covers the latest international and business news from around the world, with “live” updates from correspondents in key capital cities.
In her time here, she has covered several breaking news stories, including the metro explosions in St. Petersburg, Russia, the Westminster attack in London, Champs-Elysees shooting in Paris, and the deadly explosions at a bus terminal in Jakarta.
Gasthoori has over 16 years of experience in journalism. She began her career as a print reporter in Singapore. Her past stints include producing editorial content for News5, the news bulletin on Mediacorp’s mass entertainment channel, and covering international news as an Assistant Foreign Editor at TODAY newspaper.
Some of her achievements include her involvement in the coverage of the death of Singapore’s first Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew and the 2015 General Election in Singapore. She has also interviewed prominent political personalities, and was key in the station’s coverage of the general elections in China (2012) and Malaysia (2013). She has also written travel features on Auckland, Myanmar and Croatia.
Gasthoori holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Linguistics and Literature from the University of Queensland, Australia. She earned her BA (Hons) in English at the Queensland University of Technology in Australia.
