Teresa Tang is a presenter on Channel NewsAsia’s breakfast programme, First Look Asia. She also presents the day-belt news bulletin, News Now.
Teresa brings a decade of experience to the role having worked in newsrooms in Beijing and Vancouver prior to coming to Singapore. In Vancouver, Canada she presented news both locally and nationally for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). She also filed “live”, daily reports on a national, prime time programme often covering stories from Asia Pacific for western audiences.
Prior to that, she worked in China as a reporter for China Central Television and Blue Ocean Network based in Beijing. Among the array of assignments that Teresa covered are the handover of power to Xi Jinping in 2012, the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010, and the Causeway Scrabble Championship in Malaysia in 2008. She was also the first ever intern at Al Jazera's English bureau in Kuala Lumpur in 2008.
During her time with Channel NewsAsia she has co-anchored several live news events including the passing of Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej and a marathon 4-hour homecoming special for Singapore Olympian Joseph Schooling in 2016. She has interviewed notable figures such as celebrity chef Mario Batali, singer-songwriter Charlie Puth and former White house Chef Sam Kass.
She is an avid yogi, and as a hobby, collects Barbie dolls of which she has over 100 to date.
Teresa earned a master’s degree in Global Politics from the London School of Economics and a First Class Honours degree from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. She also studied journalism at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in Vancouver. Teresa speaks Mandarin and the Fuzhou dialect.
