HONG KONG: Police officers fired volleys of tear gas and rubber bullets at thousands of protesters in Hong Kong on Sunday (Aug 11) as violence erupted throughout the city.

There were running clashes between riot police and demonstrators in different parts of the city, with fights breaking out between pro-Beijing supporters and anti-government protesters.
