Malaysian incumbent PM Najib Razak retains Pekan parliamentary seat

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's incumbent prime minister Najib Razak has retained his parliamentary seat in his hometown Pekan, Pahang, according to official results announced on Wednesday (May 9) by Bernama. 

Najib, who presides over the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), was the first contestant to submit nomination papers at Pekan’s Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Convention Hall on Apr 28. He was running as a candidate for the ruling coalition Barisan Nasional. 

Najib beat three contestants - the Parti Islam Se-Malaysia's (PAS) Ahiatudin Daud, Parti Keadilan Rakyat's Muhd Zahid Md Arip, as well as independent candidate Abd Kadir Sainudin.
