SINGAPORE: This year's Budget has placed an emphasis on industry transformation and more information on the strategies will be made known in the coming weeks, said Trade and Industry Minister (Industry) S Iswaran.
Speaking at a book launch on Sunday (Mar 27), he said value creation in the Singapore economy will rest significantly on innovation and entrepreneurship.
"The Government's job is not really about picking sectors that are going to win for sure, but it is in creating an enabling environment that will facilitate individuals or companies pursuing the opportunities that they see and leveraging on some of the advantages that we have," said Mr Iswaran.
The minister was launching an autobiography by chairman and CEO of Modern Montessori International Group, Dr T Chandroo.
Dr Chandroo, who started the pre-school chain more than 25 years ago, said he hopes to share his entrepreneurial experience through his book.
Dr Chandroo also made a personal donation of S$10,000 to launch a special bursary programme with the Singapore Indian Development Association.
The event was attended by 250 guests, including leaders of the business community, friends and family.
