Insight 2020/2021 - S1: Is this the end for Hong Kong’s democracy movement?

On July 31, Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Carrie Lam announced that the Legislative Council (Legco) elections would be postponed to September 5, 2021 because of the #COVID19 pandemic. This follows China’s introduction of the new security law in July, and the disqualification of 12 opposition candidates including activists Joshua Wong, Lester Shum and members from the Civic Party.
