Who will bring peace to the Seven Kingdoms? Only the mighty muppet Elmo. Well, at least in Sesame Street’s new #RespectBringsUsTogether campaign, which sees the popular furry monster crashing a meeting between Game Of Thrones characters Cersei and Tyrion Lannister.
In the video, the screen siblings played by Lena Heady and Peter Dinklage are seen bickering when a clatter of armour interrupts them, and a pair of red furry hands pop up to signal the arrival of “Elmo – of Sesame Street”.
“Elmo thinks that you two need to respect each other. When Elmo has a problem with his friends, like Abby or Cookie Monster, Elmo doesn’t get upset, Elmo listens and learns from what they have to say,” said the Sesame Street star.
Tyrion is the first of the siblings to give Elmo’s advice a go, saying, “I’m willing to learn and listen if you are”.
After Elmo intervenes again, Cersei hesitantly stammers: “I can try.”
Spoiler alert: The video ends with Cersei and Tyrion toasting to their “new red friend”.
Elmo’s Game Of Thrones mashup is part of Sesame Street’s ongoing #RespectBringsUsTogether campaign, which previously featured Cookie Monster on the set of Westworld.
Clearly, adults – not just children – need to learn how to play nice, too.
