Adele will be hosting the American sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live (SNL) for the first time ever on Saturday (Oct 24).

The 32-year-old Hello singer broke the news to her 39 million Instagram followers on Sunday (Oct 18).

She wrote: "Bloooooody hellllll I'm so excited about this!! And also absolutely terrified! My first ever hosting gig and for SNL of all things!!!!"

However, she added, “if there was ever a time for any of us to jump head first into the deep end with our eyes closed and hope for the best it’s 2020 right?”

Several celebrity friends and fans have commented on her post, including singer Justin Timberlake, who wrote, "I AM ABOUT THIS!!!!".

Katy Perry was also excited to hear the news: "OMG THE PPL ARE GONNA FINALLY KNOW HOW FUNNY YOU ARE NOW BLESS UP".

Adele has been on SNL as a musical guest twice before: In 2008 and again in 2015.

She added in her post that coming back this time around felt like a “full circle” as it’ll be almost 12 years to the day that she first appeared in 2008, which also took place just before the US presidential election.

Adele said that appearance “went on to break my career in America, so it feels full circle and I just couldn't possibly say no!"

Her last album was released in 2015 and included the hits Hello and Send My Love.

The musical guest for Adele’s SNL episode will be American singer-songwriter HER.
