BTS named the top-grossing touring group of 2019, according to Billboard’s year-end Boxscore charts.

The South Korean band played to more than 1.6 million people across 42 shows from Nov 1, 2018 to Oct 31, 2019, raking in earnings of US$196 million (S$266.58 million).

BTS’ Love Yourself World Tour and Love Yourself: Speak Yourself Tour extension toured Asia, North and South America and Europe, grossed US$116.6 million and sold 976,283 tickets.

The septet beat out legacy acts such as the Rolling Stones, Metallica and KISS, as well as fellow boy band the Backstreet Boys. BTS ranked third overall on the year-end Top 40 Tour charts after Ed Sheeran and Pink.

They became the first band to score three number one albums (Map Of The Soul: Persona, Love Yourself: Tear and Love Yourself: Answer) in the US in a year since the Beatles (1996).
