Rapper Cardi B is making her way to the silver screen. American entertainment and media company STXfilms has signed the rapper to Hustlers, an upcoming film about strippers who band together to con their Wall Street clients.
She joins a star-studded cast that includes Constance Wu, Jennifer Lopez, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, Julia Stiles and Mercedes Ruehl.
Inspired by a 2016 New York Magazine article about strippers who conned their white-collar clients and kept the money for themselves, Hustlers is set in New York City in the wake of the financial crisis. The film follows a crew of savvy former strip club employees who play Robin Hood by scamming their rich clients.
According to film news site Variety, production begins Mar 22 in New York. No release date has been set.
Lorene Scafaria, of Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World (2012) and The Meddler (2015), will helm the film as writer, director, and co-producer.
The film marks the feature debut of the Grammy winner, who has previously discussed working as a stripper before becoming a singer. The rapper collaborated with Jennifer Lopez last year on Lopez's song Dinero.
Cardi will be performing in Singapore for this first time this September at the Singapore Grand Prix.
