A week after announcing that she tested positive for COVID-19, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has shared an update on her condition.

In a video she uploaded on Instagram on Wednesday (Dec 16), DeGeneres first thanked everyone for their well wishes and said that she’s now feeling “100 per cent”.

However, she expressed surprise that she faced an unexpected symptom of the illness: Back pain.

She said in the video, "One thing that they don't tell you is you get, somehow, excruciating back pain. Didn't know that was a symptom, but I talked to some other people – back pain. Who knew? How come? Back pain. Bad".

The 62-year-old DeGeneres revealed her diagnosis on Dec 10, saying at the time that she was “feeling fine right now”. She also encouraged her followers to “stay healthy and safe”.

Production for her daytime talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, has been suspended till January.

DeGeneres faced a tumultuous 2020 even without having to deal with the coronavirus. In July, her show faced accusations of a hostile work environment and DeGeneres herself was accused of being mean-spirited, leading fellow celebrities to come to her defence. After internal investigations, three top producers left the show and DeGeneres vowed to make changes and start a “new chapter”.
