Google announced on Tuesday (Apr 28) that it has launched a new feature on its Google Pay Singapore platform to help users discover new food pick-up and delivery options.

This couldn’t come at a better time as restaurants and food outlets are trying to stay afloat amid the circuit breaker measures that have forced most of the population indoors.

The free menu discovery feature is developed specifically for Singapore and currently lists more than 250 coffee shops, restaurants and hawker stalls. Some options available include Kok Sen, O Banh Mi, and Outram Park Ya Hua Rou Gu Cha. Users can also order restaurant-style spreads at home from Blue Ginger, O.BBa BBQ Jjajang and NUDE Seafood.

Like most delivery services, users will be able to look through menus, select items and then order and pay through the platform, after which they may opt to self-collect or have their order delivered.

Said Patrick Teo, director of engineering for payments and engineering site lead at Google Singapore: “We hope to make the process of discovering local eateries simple and easy, and support even the smallest businesses – like hawkers – and minimise disruptions to their business.”

Google also said that they are currently working with Chope to make this new feature available to Chope-affiliated food outlets.
