If you’ve ever wondered what a final showdown between He-Man and his enemy Skeletor might look like, well you’re about to find out. Director Kevin Smith of Clerks and Jay And Silent Bob Reboot fame, announced at the Power-Con convention on Sunday (Aug 18) that he’ll be involved in creating a new animated series for Netflix as a showrunner and executive producer. Power-Con is an event celebrating He-Man and She-ra.

The new show will be called Masters Of The Universe: Revelation. According to Variety, it’ll take place in the Mattel toy-inspired universe and will touch on “unresolved storylines” from the classic ’80s TV show.

Smith, who is known to be a huge comic book fan and is a Masters “superfan”, said: “I’m Eternia-ly grateful to Mattel TV and Netflix for entrusting me with not only the secrets of Grayskull, but also their entire Universe.”

He added: “In Revelation, we pick up right where the classic era left off to tell an epic tale of what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor! Brought to life with the most metal character designs Powerhouse Animation can contain in the frame, this is the Masters of the Universe story you always wanted to see as a kid!”

The series will be produced by Mattel Television together with Smith and fellow executive producer, Roy David, who wrote He-Man: The Eternity War. The animation will be overseen by Powerhouse Animation, which created Castlevania, while writers will include Eric Carrasco (Supergirl) and Diya Mishra (Magic The Gathering.)
