Hong Kong singer-actress Joey Yung took to Instagram on Sunday (May 17) to announce that she will be auctioning off her collection of paintings.

The proceeds will go towards helping out children whose schooling has been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to her Instagram post, the auction will take place on Wednesday (May 20) at 1pm on the Joey Yung Charitable Foundation website.

“I am aware some families cannot afford to buy gadgets for their child to learn online,” she wrote in the caption. “As such, I hope through the auction, I will be able to raise funds to help them.”

Besides purchasing items for students to continue studying, Yung is also exploring other ways she can help them.

She wrote that she hopes to start tuition, homework and English classes for needy students during this time.

“Hopefully they will be able to catch up on their studies,” she said.

Yung herself has also been affected by the pandemic, with her concert tour in Europe getting cancelled. However, a video of her performing at a Paris train station went viral after she decided to sing for fans who missed out on her concert due to the cancellations.
