Introduction of Parliamentary Elections (COVID-19 Special Arrangements) Bill and COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Bill

(Updated: )

Voters who are under COVID-19 stay orders can vote outside of their electoral divisions in the next General Election. Aspiring candidates need not be present in person during nomination proceedings if they are under quarantine or stay order, hospitalised or ill. These special provisions were proposed under the Parliamentary Elections (COVID-19 Special Arrangements) Bill, which was introduced in Parliament on Tuesday (Apr 7) by Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing. Also introduced was the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Bill, by Senior Minister of State for Law Edwin Tong.
