Debate on President's Address: Seah Kian Peng on care and kindness as 'bedrock' for unity(Updated: )
Care for each other and look out for one another. MP Seah Kian Peng prescribed this as the "bedrock" for unity amid difficult times. He said this should apply to the civil service, where he noted a link between the rising culture of blame and risk aversion among public servants. Mr Seah said with people needing more social support, public servants should be given more discretion and some leeway to make mistakes. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Aug 31), he made a similar "shout-out" to companies and organisations which are doing well to help others, especially small and medium enterprises.
