Budget 2021 debate: Joan Pereira on support for caregivers who 'simply need a break'

Housekeeper, cook, babysitter, nurse, accountant, concierge, courier and driver on standby 24/7, overworked and burning out. Our caregivers "simply need a break", said MP Joan Pereira. Speaking in Parliament on Thursday (Feb 25), she suggested three ways to provide stronger support. Firstly, raise public awareness on the support services which are available. Secondly, monitor the quality of care services so that caregivers can have peace of mind. Thirdly, provide career counselling, guidance and training for caregivers who would like to start or return to work.
